It was evident that people had worked very hard indeed on this high and difficult work. The German was fine and it was very helpful to have the words on the programme. At times it was not as tight as it may be but with a big work with complicated passages this can be expected. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the performance which was good to hear and despite the one or two observations I have made the overall standard was really good reflecting all the hard work done in preparation.
I hope your M.D. was proud of you, he, the pianists and soloists were exceptional. I also enjoyed the first half. Hope you have found this constructive it is very important to have a choral society such as this one in a town and I like the fact that it is non audition. I am sure with the work you do people would up to a point self-select.
Well done indeed with the Brahms. I enjoyed it hugely, especially the athletic prowess of the conductor and the choir’s enthusiasm which was evident throughout. It has long been one of my favorites and you did it proud.
Once again a superb evening of uplifting music. Presumably Leo chooses the works to be performed and it is a privilege for us, to experience such a range of great music. I gather there was a slight problem in the third movement, but it all came together and did’t spoil a glorious evening. I’m sure it was a very difficult piece to sing. I wish i lived nearer. I’d love to sing with this choir!.
